Words, interpretations, astrology, Vedas and a contained heart that learned, are what holy men honor. These five give them principles to live by, without hurting others, and to be virtuous.
These esteemed sages are noble, truthful and dependable like the morning sun. They worship gods and perform rituals according to their strong traditions. The bright flames they light for oblations that yield benefits, are like reflections of their inner desires. Beneficial smoke rises from their ritual fires.
Smoke also rises from the huge palace courtyard where chopped goat meat with white fat that is sold by goat sellers, is roasted in ghee with sizzling sounds, roaring endlessly like the ocean, to feed those who come, so that they do not have to go elsewhere to eat.
Fragrant smoke from both fires rises to the skies and the gods in the upper world are happy.
Oh victorious king of a fertile country where beneficial rains never fail! Where fine toddy is poured like rainwater! You led your troops in battles with trained war elephants, as battle drums covered with leather resounded and warriors clamored, staining your chest with enemy soil. You brought back spoils of wars and gifted fine ornaments to those around you.
Oh king of Pūliyars! Oh lord of Seruppu Mountain with the same name as that which is worn on feet, where cattle herders wearing jasmine garlands let their cattle herds graze on grass in the vast land, and pick sparkling gems from the forests with lofty mountains! You are a body shield to your warriors wearing many kinds of garlands!
Oh king of the lofty Ayirai Mountain with the same name as the fish that does not fear hunting storks that look from afar, with blocking vertical peaks that yield benefits, and streams running down its sides! Your citizens live happily without diseases since rains fall every year without ceasing.
May you live for thousands of years with your beautiful queen, her flowing dark hair with natural fragrance without any added scents, resembling that of rainy season’s jasmine, her pretty eyes like night-blooming flowers that are removed from ponds, wide, darting and moist, and her wide arms like bamboo that grows on splendid stream beds where swaying glory lilies blossom.

ஐந்தினையும் சேர்ந்து கற்று, அவையே துணையாக,
எவ்வுயிருக்கும் துன்பம் சூழாமல் விளங்கும் கொள்கையுடன்,
ஞாயிற்றைப் போன்ற சிறப்புப் பொருந்திய, வாய்மை உரையால்,
அச்சம் பொருந்திய முறைமையினையுடைய கடவுளைப் போற்றுவதற்காக
மேற்கொண்ட வேள்வித்தீயின் சுடர் மேலெழும்போதெல்லாம்,
உள்ளத்து விருப்பம் உடலிலும் பரவும் பெரும் புகழ் கொண்ட ஆவுதிப்புகையும்;

மிதிக்கும் செருப்பு அல்லாத செருப்பு என்னும் மலையினையுடைய பூழியரின் அரசே!
குவியலான தலைமாலைகளை அணிந்த மழவரின் கவசம் போன்றவனே!
பலவகைப் பயன்களைத் தரும் காடுகளைக் கொண்ட, தானும் பயன்களை அளிக்கும் நெடிய உச்சியையுடைய,
நீர் ஒழுகும் பக்கத்தில் செல்லாமல், நீண்ட தொலைவிலிருந்து
உன்னிப்பாகப் பார்க்கும் கொக்கின் விரைவான கொத்தலுக்கு அஞ்சாத,
புகழ் படைத்த நாட்டினிடையே பகைவர் போரிடாதவாறு குறுக்கிட்டுக்கிடக்கும்
நேராக உயர்ந்த நெடிய மலையான அயிரை என்னும் மலைக்குத் தலைவனே!
ஆண்டுதோறும் பொய்க்காமல் பயனைத் தரும் மழை நிறையப்பெய்து,
நோய் இல்லாமல், மக்களுக்கு, நல்ல காலமாகக் கழிய,
நறுநெய் பூசப்படாவிட்டாலும் கமழ்கின்ற மணத்தைக் கொண்டு,
கார்காலத்து மலரின் மணம் கமழும் தாழ இறங்கிய கரிய கூந்தலையும்,
குளத்திலிருந்து நீங்கி வந்ததைப் போல, இரவிலும் மலர்ந்து நின்று,
அழகிய முகத்தினில் சுழல்கின்ற பெரிய அமைதியான குளிர்ச்சியான கண்களையும்,
அசைகின்ற காந்தள் ஒளிவிடும் நீர்ப்பரப்பின் கரையில் நிற்கும்
மூங்கிலைப் போன்ற பெரிய தோள்களையும் உடைய இவளோடு
